Conteco Concrete
What is Conteco Concrete?
Conteco Concrete is our classical concrete product series, where you yourself create the expression of the finished look in a myriad of ways.
Conteco Concrete kan be used for the following projects:
1) With its Danish MK-approval, Conteco Concrete, in combination with the Ardex Tricom Wet Room System, is uniquely approved for both new construction and complete bathroom renovations.
2) Conteco Concrete kan be used when renovating exciting bathroom surfaces.
3) Conteco Concrete can also be used on both already excisting and newly established floors, walls, table tops etc.
It is important that the surface is level, stable, smooth, and uniformly absorbent. In the ‘Installation’ section, you can read about the types of surfaces on which Conteco can be applied.

Conteco Concrete drying times
Drying times vary between the different layers. For the concrete layers, it is approximately 45-60 minutes per layer at 20°C.
For Color Sustainer and Color Sustainer Plus, the drying time is 60-90 minutes at 20°C.
For Conteco Concrete Sealer, the drying time is 60-90 minutes per layer at room temperature.
Please note that 12 hours must pass after the last concrete layer before proceeding with Color Sustainer, Color Sustainer Plus, or Conteco Concrete Sealer.
After the final layer of Conteco Concrete Sealer is applied, wait 24 hours before using the surface and 7 days before the surface comes into contact with water.

Tools and expression
The choice of tools affects the appearance you achieve in the concrete.
If you use a steel trowel, you will get a “flamed” look with a lot of color variation.
A plastic trowel will give a calmer appearance, while a rubber spatula will result in a more uniform finish.
Conteco Concrete can also be applied with a roller and/or brush. However, be aware that using a brush may leave visible brush strokes, and a roller will automatically create small peaks on the surface, which can lead to overuse of the product.
Therefore, we recommend using a trowel for applying Conteco.
If the appearance doesn’t turn out as desired, it is possible to add additional layers of concrete.
Tip: If you want a calmer appearance with Conteco Concrete, we recommend choosing a rough structure, where the final layer of concrete is Concrete Medium.
Tip: Always have a bucket of water ready during application to store tools between layers. This will make it easier to clean the tools after use.
Note: We do not recommend cleaning and reusing rollers, as it can be difficult to remove all product residue completely.

How many layers should I apply?
Conteco Concrete is a system construction that requires different products/layers for a finished surface. The structure typically consists of 2-3 layers of concrete, Color Sustainer Plus, and Conteco Beton Sealer. The total thickness is approximately 1.5 mm, excluding preparatory work.

Conteco Concrete in wet rooms / MK-approval
The Conteco Concrete product series is the only one of its kind approved for use with a waterproofing membrane.
This means that Conteco Concrete can legally be used for complete renovations and new constructions, exclusively with the Ardex Tricom Wet Room System.

Please note the guidelines regarding system construction and drainage. For newly installed bathrooms, we recommend the following drains: Blücher Circle and Blücher Waterline Type 275.

The full Conteco Concrete system is also approved for use in existing wet rooms and bathrooms.
This means that Conteco Concrete can also be used on top of existing surfaces such as tiles, ceramics, vinyl, and linoleum.
Surface damage
If an accident happens and your Conteco Concrete surface has suffered a small damage, you can find repair kits in our shop to fix minor dents and similar issues in two variants:
Repair Kit #1: Concrete Mixture
- 100g Beton Medium with/without color
- 50g Mix & Primer
Repair Kit #2: Topcoat
- 40 ml Color Sustainer Plus
- 100 ml Beton Sealer Matte or Shine
- 20 ml Cross-linker

Conteco ONE
What is Conteco ONE?
Conteco ONE is our single-component concrete product, designed with fewer application steps.
You can choose from 30 different colors, and the product comes pre-mixed.
Conteco ONE can be used for the following types of projects:
1) Conteco ONE can be used in the renovation of existing bathrooms.
2) Conteco ONE can also be applied to existing or newly installed floors, walls, countertops, etc.
It’s important that the surface is level, stable, smooth, and uniformly absorbent. In the ‘Installation’ section, you can read about the types of surfaces on which Conteco can be applied.

Conteco ONE drying times
The drying time varies between the different layers. For the first layer, it is approximately 60-90 minutes at 20°C.
After the second layer is applied, you must wait 12 hours before proceeding with Conteco Concrete Sealer.
After the final layer of Concrete Sealer is applied, wait 24 hours before using the surface, and 7 days before the surface can come into contact with water.

Tools and expression
Conteco ONE has a uniform and calm appearance on its own.
If you want more variation and depth, you can use a two-color method, where you apply a dark Conteco ONE color in the first layer and a lighter color in the second layer.
To achieve better results and reduce product usage, we recommend using a steel trowel for applying both the first and second layers.
If the color still isn’t what you want, it is possible to add additional layers of concrete.
Tip: Always have a bucket of water ready during application to store tools between layers. This will make it easier to clean the tools after use.
Note: We do not recommend cleaning and reusing rollers, as it can be difficult to remove all product residue completely.

Conteco ONE in wet rooms
Conteco ONE, in its full structure, is designed for use in existing wet rooms and bathrooms.
This means that Conteco ONE can be applied over existing surfaces such as tiles, ceramics, vinyl, and linoleum.
The lighter Conteco ONE colors
If the surface is dark, such as with plaster compounds, concrete floors, or heavily colored coatings, the lighter Conteco ONE colors from 01-10 may not be fully opaque in the recommended two layers.
However, this often contributes to a marbled effect where the color of the substrate shows through and adds depth, which some people deliberately seek.
For a fully opaque result, it is recommended to include the product Conteco Base Color WHITE; a base color specifically developed for the lighter Conteco ONE colors.
Generel Information
Can I work with Conteco myself?
Yes, the system is designed so that both private individuals and professionals can apply Conteco, and no certification is required to work with the product*.
However, we always recommend thoroughly reviewing our guides before starting a project.

*Note: If you are a professional, an AMU-course is required before using Conteco Concrete Sealer.
Where can I buy Conteco?
All orders must be placed and paid for via our webshop. It is not possible to order or pay at our warehouse, office, or showroom.

Color charts
Conteco Cencrete series:
With the Conteco Concrete series’ classic natural pigments, the color intensity is adjusted by the amount of pigment added to the concrete. This allows you to customize the color to suit your specific project. You can find them in our webshop here. The color chart for the Conteco Beton series’ classic natural pigments is available here.
In addition to our standard colors for the Conteco Beton series, we also offer a selection of RAL colors, which can be found in our webshop here. The color chart for the Conteco Beton series’ RAL colors is available here.
Conteco ONE:
Conteco ONE colors come pre-mixed, making it easier for you to achieve the desired color look. The color chart for Conteco ONE is available here.

All orders can be picked up at

You will receive a notification from us when your order is ready for pickup.
Note: Conteco ONE is a made-to-order product and will be produced only after the order is placed. Therefore, please expect a waiting time of 2-4 business days.
Delivery
We strive to ship orders within 1-2 business days after receipt. During busy periods, there may be longer processing times.
Shipments are delivered within 1-4 business days after the order is completed via PostNord to a parcel shop or business address. Larger shipments and pallets are sent with DSV.
Note: Conteco ONE is a made-to-order product and will be produced only after the order is placed. Therefore, please expect a delivery time of 2-4 business days.
Return
The buyer has a total of 30 days to cancel a purchase when shopping with Conteco A/S. This includes a 14-day withdrawal period and an extended return period from the 15th to the 30th day.
As the buyer, you are responsible for returning the products. The products must be returned in their original, unopened condition and in the same state as when delivered.
If you wish to make a return, please send us an email at info@conteco.dk with your order number and details of the products you wish to return. Please note that the condition of the products will be checked upon receipt, after which the return will be processed.
Note: Since Conteco ONE is a made-to-order product, it cannot be returned.

Cleaning and maintenance
For cleaning and maintaining Conteco surfaces, we recommend Conteco Clean & Care — a care system specially developed for Conteco surfaces treated with our Conteco Concrete Sealer.
The series consists of two products: a cleaning product and a care product that forms a protective film on the surface, ensuring long-lasting protection for your surfaces.
The products are available in various options and can be found here.
Conteco surfaces treated with Conteco Concrete Sealer can generally withstand all common household chemicals, provided they are used according to the instructions.
We do not recommend cleaning Conteco surfaces with steam.
Please note that wet items, such as shampoo, mats, tubs, or similar, should not be placed on the floor, as they can create permanent dark moisture stains that penetrate the concrete.
Expectations and acceptance criteria
Conteco falls under the category of design floors; a general term for seamless cement-based floors. The installation of design floors, including Conteco, places high demands on the subfloor, and any surface issues with Conteco are often attributed to problems with the subfloor.
The finished floor should be inspected while standing at eye level and in daylight, just like any other floor. The following acceptance criteria are taken from the brochure “Expectations for Design Floors” from Dansk Byggeri:
- Pinholes and small blisters on the surface may occur and should be accepted up to approximately 5 per 10 m².
- Shrinkage cracks and color variations are to be expected and accepted.
- Transitions at repairs and other touch-ups must be accepted.
- Roller marks in the topcoat (Conteco Concrete Sealer) may occur.
- Stains and similar surface imperfections may occur to a minor extent.

The Conteco Concrete Series
Conteco ONE series:
Should Conteco be applied in one operation?
No, that’s not necessary.
However, we always recommend that both the individual concrete layers of Conteco Concrete and Conteco ONE be applied in one continuous process to ensure a uniform appearance.
Conteco on tiles
When applying Conteco over tiles, we always recommend that the surface be fully plastered and primed with the bonding mortar Ardex A46 and Conteco Base Primer before application.

Conteco on cast concrete
Conteco can be applied to cast concrete as long as the surface is pre-saturated with concrete primer.
If the concrete is freshly cast, it is important to conduct a moisture measurement before applying Conteco.
The moisture level must be < 75 RH before Conteco Beton Sealer can be applied.
Conteco on linoleum and vinyl
For the application of Conteco, the substrate must always be flat, stable, even, and uniformly absorbent.
Conteco can be applied to surfaces such as vinyl and linoleum, as long as they are installed as a full sheet.
This type of surface does not need to be primed beforehand but should be surface-sanded to ensure adhesion to Conteco.
Note: It is important that the substrate is properly prepared, as the finished Conteco surface will never be better than the substrate.

Conteco directly on wood / light constructions
Conteco can be applied to a wood or lightweight construction substrate. It is important that the substrate remains flat, stable, even, and uniformly absorbent.
This can be achieved, for example, by stabilizing the floor and then laying a sheet material (vinyl, linoleum), or by stabilizing the floor, fully plastering it, and priming it before applying Conteco.
The most suitable type of preparation is always project-specific and done at your own risk.
We therefore recommend consulting a professional if you are unsure.
Conteco on surface with possibly damp
Conteco should not be applied in its full system (i.e., with Conteco Concrete Sealer) on surfaces where there is a risk of damp or frost coming from underneath.
If there is any doubt, a moisture measurement should always be conducted before starting the project.
The moisture level must be < 75 RH before applying Conteco Concrete Sealer.
Technical Information
Conteco in a wet room with the wrong slope to the drain
We do not recommend that Conteco be used in wet rooms with the wrong slope for drainage, as stagnant water will always be able to penetrate a substrate.
Slope/fall to drainage should therefore be restored before Conteco is applied.
Conteco and Unidrain
If you wish to use Conteco for new wet room installations, we do not recommend using a Unidrain, as this type of drain has a construction that does not work well with the Ardex Tricom Wet Room System and may pose challenges in achieving a proper seal.
Instead, we recommend using the Blücher Waterline Type 275.
If you have an existing wet room with a Unidrain, there are certain things you should be aware of before applying Conteco. This includes, among other things, ensuring that the frame is glued firmly to the drain fixture to prevent water and moisture from penetrating between the base frame and the grate.

Conteco and recommended drainage
For new installations using our MK-approved system consisting of Conteco Concrete and the Ardex Tricom Wet Room System in shower niches, we recommend the following drains:
Blücher Circle or Blücher Waterline Type 275 in accordance with the guidelines for system construction and drainage.
Conteco and silicone sealants
Silicone sealants around drains must ensure that the surface is tightly sealed and that moisture does not penetrate the concrete from the drain.
Silicone sealants from the existing substrate should be removed as the first step before starting the project and must also be reinstalled 7 days after the final layer of Conteco Concrete Sealer is applied.
When applying Conteco in a bathroom on an existing wet room-approved substrate (e.g., tiles), the installation is completed after 7 days with a silicone sealant that breaks the contact with the drain edge.
When applying Conteco over vinyl, apply Conteco under the drain’s clamping ring, and also finish with a silicone sealant on the underside of the clamping ring.
This applies to both Conteco Concrete and Conteco ONE.

Conteco and underfloor heating
Conteco works well with underfloor heating systems.
However, we recommend turning off the underfloor heating at least 72 hours before application.
Similarly, you should wait 72 hours before gradually turning the underfloor heating back on.
I already have Conteco. Can I change color?
Yes, you can change the color.
All you need to do is perform a light surface sanding with a 200-grit sanding pad to create adhesion for the new layers.
Note: If you want to switch from a dark Conteco surface to a light one, you may need to apply additional layers or use Conteco Base Color WHITE to achieve full coverage.
Conteco and chemical resistance
The finished Conteco surface with Conteco Concrete Sealer has been tested for chemical resistance against various types of products, including red wine, coffee, ammonia, olive oil, and alcohol.
In this test, the product was allowed to remain on the surface for one hour, after which it was removed and any differences were noted.
No noticeable differences were found on the surface after one hour of exposure to the above-mentioned products.
However, it is important not to leave substances like alcohol on the surface for extended periods, as prolonged exposure (over 1 hour) may cause marks on the surface.
Particularly regarding hand sanitizer: We ask all customers to be especially cautious with gel-based hand sanitizers, as the liquid in these does not evaporate and is therefore more likely to remain on the surface for longer periods.
How often should Conteco Concrete Sealer be renewed for maximum durability?
As long as there is no wear-through or damage to the Conteco Concrete Sealer and there is still good adhesion to the substrate, there is no need to renew the surface.
If you determine that your surface needs a new layer of Conteco Beton Sealer, you should perform a light surface sanding with a 200-grit sanding pad to create adhesion, remove sanding dust, and then apply Conteco Concrete Sealer at a rate of 200ml per square meter.

Conteco and fireplaces
Conteco can be applied to the floor in front of fireplaces.
Note: Conteco has a lacquered surface, so sparks, embers, etc., may land on the coating and cause burn marks.
